I spent the weekend in the Alamogordo area and visited White Sands twice with my friend Paul. We both took a lot of pictures of this beautiful but otherworldly landscape.

A Sharp-shinned Hawk pays a visit
I hadn't seen it in months. It didn't take a bath but it hung around for 15 minutes or so. It hopped over to the big bath but only for a minute, then it flew off.

Owl in the Big Bath
I finally saw a Great Horned Owl in the king-sized bird bath. The photos are grainy because it was just getting light out. I was shooting at ISO 1600, for you camera buffs.
